"The publicity from the LiveWIRE
awards was amazing and the pace
of work, let alone our reputation,
grew overnight," says Andy
Bradshaw, left, with wife and
business partner Samantha.

Being made redundant was not such a bad thing for Andy Bradshaw, co-founder of Blackburn-based creative design agency Oneighty. When the company Andy was previously working for as creative director down-sized leaving him without a job, he and his wife Samantha saw it as an opportunity to take the bull by the horns and start their own dream business.

That was a few years ago now, and in another couple, you may well hear the name Oneighty bantered around as the best creative agency in Lancashire. That was the bold aim made by Andy and Samantha at a national awards ceremony for young entrepreneurs earlier this year. They may not have picked up the national title, but they did pick up an excellent reputation and a lot of new business.

Andy and Samantha already bear the titles East Lancashire LiveWIRE and North West  LiveWIRE Young Entrepreneurs of the year 2004. They won the accolades after a chance meeting with Jo Evans from Hyndburn Enterprise Trust, who inspired them to enter. Jo had seen Samantha doing a sales pitch to a client and felt that Oneighty had all the makings of a winner. And obviously they did, taking the East Lancashire award - "to our utter surprise" says Andy - and then securing the North West title aswell. The company was projected into the limelight and the rest, as they say, is history.
